Music Video Channels



What's the important of music video channels ?

- Music video channels was first produced in 1981 which was MTV and its main focus was to give artists more exposure and to give them a chance to develop an artistic side via videos.
- Music channels are important because it offers audience a wide range of variety depending on the genre of their choice. It also give the audience an options to choose which channel matches with their favourite music genre. Not only they will get to listen to their genre, music channels also allows them to see the music videos for their favourites songs.










Music Channels today

- Back in the day, MTV was the only music channel that allows people to watch music videos through television. This includes many different music genres all in one so it was quite difficult for people to find their favourite genre. Now that technology has massively developed, more music channels were also made for different music genres. For instant, if a person enjoy listening to Classic music, they can now access on MTV Classic.
- Moreover, each music channels would provide 'Top 10' or 'Top 20' songs of that particular genre where it allows the audience to catch up with all new urban songs and more from their favourite channel.
- Music channels has expanded in term of channels that allows them to attract a wider range of
audience.












Music Channels and Synergy to appeal to audience

- As technology is developing, not only through television, people can now access through internet and social networking sites. This allows more available options for the audience to access music videos online.
- Music Channels allows all music videos are getting seen from the audience all around the world. Because of music video success brands are starting to incorporate themselves into music videos to promotes themselves plus their products too. For example in Miley Cyrus music video ''23'', this was used to promote the ''Beat Pill'' which is a product from Dr. Dre. This was done purposely to exaggerates the use of the product and is aiming at a large audience due to Miley having a massive fan based.

Underrepresentation of music channels: What genres are underrepresented and why ?

- On the other side of the successful fields, there are also many underrepresented music channels. This is due to the music genre provides within the channel doesn't attract a larger audience as many others, instead it attracts a niche. For instant, Channel AKA is a channel used to show Grime and UK Rap. This type of genre is different from all the others, it tends to be hyper, high tempo, fast paced and sounds a slight of aggressiveness. This channel attract a niche audience due to having low budget and young rappers who aren't popular enough to attracts a larger audience. It is also due to the music video having poor quality which could never be compared to the others within the music industry.













Advantages of having so many channels

- There are many advantages of having a various range amounts of music channels. These includes:


1) Lots of airplay
2) Satisfying audience demand
3) Directly know the target audience
4) Can increase download
5) Increase marketing promotion
6) Increase of artist popularity

- All the information above has allows me to discover the uses of music channels and its beneficial towards itself plus the audience. It has also allows me to learn how music channels and synergy appeals to the audience.
